What to see

El Mirador del R , was built in 1973, and was later on altered by César Manrique, converting it into a viewpoint. From here one can take pleasure in the marvelous sight of La Graciosa and La Alegranza, through the vast windows of its terrace. The facade of El Mirador is a stone wall that almost completely conceals the construction.

A natural cavern that was prepared for visitors by Jes Soto in 1964, La Cueva de los Verdes is a must-see as well. The interior of the cave has impressively maintained its natural form and the only intervention caused by man has been the set up of sound and lighting systems which have overall added to the site s appeal. Also, an auditorium has been installed, with its shape and architecture merging harmoniously with the rest of the cave.

Then there s Los Jameos del Agua , constructed in 1968 as a tourist site by Jesus Soto and Luis Morales based on the idea of the famous Cesar Manrique . Los Jameos is actually a restructuring of one of the end sections of a volcanic tube. It has an ethereal yet cozy ambience, and within it is a restaurant, lovely gardens, a pool, auditorium and the museum, 'House of the Volcanoes.

Other fascinating places to see are the many churches and houses located in Haria: the church of San Juan from the 17 th century, the church of Nuestra Se de la Encarnacion, the church of Santa Barbara, Casa de Cesar Manrique, Casa Curbelo, and Casa de los Se Paz Curras .
Also worth mentioning are the Rio salt flat, the combination of volcanic rock at La Quemada, the volcano of La Corona, the cliffs at Famara , and Los Helechos, all remarkable for their peculiar beauty.
