Town Beaches

Lanzarote has 250km of coastline, including the 55km of coastline of the islets. Cliffs comprise 157km of the coastline, and gravel and sand beaches make up the rest. Lanzarote has 99 beaches; La Graciosa has 9; and La Alegranza has 1. The majority of the beaches are sandy, golden-white.

Lanzarote is one of the places in Spain where it has plenty of beaches and it has become one of the famous destinations for vacation. With more than ninety beaches in Lanzarote, you will definitely have a great time here. Even if you are going to work the next day, you can always take the next flight out to where you are heading. La Graciosa
In the north are Playa Lambra and Playa de Las Conchas with 500 meters of immaculate white sand. From La Caleta del Sebo, the beach can be accessed by foot or on bicycle. To the south are El Caleton del Marrajo, La Bahia del Salado , and the marvelous Playa de La Cocina located underneath Monta Amarilla . These beaches have made island of La Graciosa established for having the best beaches in the island of Lanzarote.

Beaches at Orzola

The beaches in the area of Orzola , like La Playa del Caleton Blanco , are distinguish as having a low, pebbly shore, beautifully contrasting against its ethereal surrounding of volcanic landscape.

If you re a surf devotee, the ideal place for you is La Canteria beach , known by the locals as a surfing haven. Access is a bit troublesome for it is a dirt path. Nonetheless, it is worth the effort for beautiful surroundings are at the foot of the mountain.

Down towards the vicinity of Arrieta is La Playa de Los Jameos, a beach with little sand mixed with volcanic rock. It s a favorite amongst surfers and windsurfers.


Beaches at Arrieta

Before getting to Arrieta , we find the remarkable natural pools at Punta Mujeres which have been formed by lava. Here, even the tiniest can paddle without the chance of danger.

Located in the area is La Garita beach where one can bask and sunbathe, surf, swim, fool around in the waves or simply relish a refreshing, cool drink at the small beach bar.

Famara beach

Famara
is a beach of fine, coffee-colored sand extending for 2,800 meters. Situated at the bottom of the rugged rocks of Famara, it is uncomfortable as well as dangerous to be on the beach when it is windy, due to the strong tide and currents. It s an ideal spot for surfing, and various surf schools offer beginners courses here. It is a must to see with its rock formations, crags and sand dunes which, together with the fog, make it a landscape of strange and exceptional beauty.

El Risco beach

Due to its being difficult access, El Risco beach is considered one of the wildest on the island. The only way to get there is to take the boat from Orzola or by coming down the cliffs at Famara . The beach has significant historic value due the presence of Las Salinas del Rio , the oldest salt flats of Lanzarote which nowadays have been closed. It is also an archaeological site containing pre-historical remains. It is advised that you to go prepared to spend the entire day there, brining food, drink, and other necessities. And, keep in mind that going down the beach is easier than getting back up, so ready your physical energy and stamina!

Charco del Palo

In places with coastal gorges and the absence of beaches, the alternative is to create pools. Charco del Palo is one example. A residential area of charming residences, it has also been home to a nudist community seeking the tranquility and warm sun that s typical of the sea.

Los Cocoteros

Los Cocoteros
is a residential district that is distinguished by its abundant gardens of lovely palm trees. It has a natural pool of sea water that fills and empties as the tide ebbs and flows.


Los Charcos and Bastian beaches

For you to take pleasure in here are beaches of white sand and clear waters. Playa de Los Charcos abounds with windsurfers on windy days while Playa Bastian is ideal for the kids as it is sheltered from the wind and is easy to gain access to.


Playa Honda Beaches

Guacimeta

Enjoy a thousand-meter stretch of fine golden sand in Guacimeta. Here you can windsurf, kitesurf or simply bask in the wonderful sunshine. It is easily reached from the road and has restaurants, parking, telephones, and a bus stop. Also in proximity is the island s only airport, making Guacimeta such an ideal destination.

Playa Honda

Framed by a promenade and having some 1,900 meters of chromatic fine sand, getting to Playa Honda is trouble free and its waters are certainly safe to bathe in. La Concha meanwhile is 250 meters of fine toasted sand, also easy to access.


Puerto del Carmen Beaches

Nestled in the middle of Puerto del Carmen and bordered by a boardwalk, Playa Blanca is a beach of gold-colored sand that stretches for some 1,200 meters. It offers clean, clear waters, can easily be accessed. All types of services can be availed here.

Playa de Los Pocillos has 1,300m of golden sand and is the ultimate spot for practicing windsurfing.

Near the airport at Guacimeta is Playa de Matagorda which has 800 meters of metallic yellow sand, clear and tranquil waters, similar to the beaches of Pe Grande, Fariones and Barilla .


Playa Blanca Beaches

What used to be an old fishing village is nowadays one of the most important tourist centers on the island. A variety of very attractive beaches make up this part of the coast. Playa Blanca boasts of fine golden sand that is easy to access from the promenade, which ends at where the port of Playa Blanca starts. Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorada have lovely, golden white sand with calm waters, perfectly situated in proximity to all the services that the town has to offer.


Papagayo Beaches

There is a string of beaches in the south of Lanzarote that boasts of golden sands of between 100 meters and 400 meters in length, and separated by high peninsulas. Access is unproblematic but being remote beaches that are far from the population hub, few services are available. The beaches are: Playa del Pozo, Playa de Papagayo, Playa Mujeres, Playa de La Cera, Caleta del Congrio and Puerto Muelas.

El Golfo Beach

A black beach of 150 meters of gravel and stones all around by the sea. It is located in the incomparable El Golfo , inside the crater of the volcano where a green colored lake has formed, known as El Lago de Los Ciclos .

Janubio Beach

Situated close to the well-known salt flats, Salinas del Janubio , this black sand beach is of great beauty. The atmosphere is uniquely serene, but it is very dangerous for bathing due to its powerful currents.

La Santa

Located next to the hotel-sports complex of La Santa Sport , this is an artificial beach of 900 meters, through which access is trouble-free. The beach is actually a closed, artificial lake of fine white sand and calm waters, ideal for learning to windsurf or just relaxed time under the sun.

Near the lake, there is a rocky beach where perfect surfing waves break. But here s a warning: this are is for experts only! This beach is dangerous due to the strong waves and currents. Caleta de Caballo is also a surfing haven.
