Shopping

There´s duty-free shopping on the island, as well as numerous local items for the tourist shopper. Craftsmanship is represented mainly by skilled open-work and embroidery. Pottery, basket-work made of palm leaves, reed or cane, delicate woodcarvings and jewelry are also popular. Tobacco produced here is excellent and world-famous. Cigars from the Canary Islands are outstanding in quality. Watches, alcohol, sunglasses, swimwear, electrical equipment in general, plus souvenirs and gifts, can be bought at a good price.

The streets of Arrecife, Leon y Castillo and Real , are the ultimate shopping spots. Bazaars and shops sell electrical goods, tableware, watches, clothes, lace, ceramics, books about Lanzarote , wines from La Geria , cheese, records and many more. In the center of Arrecife is also the Spinola shopping arcade.

In Puerto del Carmen are souvenirs as well as numerous surfing shops and beach shops. In Teguise meanwhile, are cheese makers like El Faro , selling fresh, cured and semi-cured cheese. Costa Teguise has in their shopping arcade Las Cucharas , towels, bathing suits, sun glasses, backpacks, etc. During afternoons, in the Pueblo Marinero plaza of Costa Teguise is a mini bazaar of all types of crafts and handmade jewelry. Every Sunday, there is a market in the center of La Villa de Teguise . Numerous stalls full of dolls, cassettes, necklaces, bracelets and other craftwork, line the streets of the old capital of Lanzarote . You can also find fine craftwork in Mozaga , in El Monumento al Campesino. There is also a well-known restaurant and a crafts shop with tableware, lace and embroidery around the area.

For shopping arcades, you can go to the north of the island, leaving Arrecife towards Tahiche . There are El Hiper and El Shopping Centre . Heading south to Playa Honda is El Megacentro and the shopping arcade, Deiland . A wide variety of shops are found there.
